Now in its 20th year, the Health at Work Awards program recognizes organizations who prioritize employee health and well-being through innovative, multi-platform programs.
CHICAGO – (Sept. 19, 2024) – ComPsych® Corporation, the world’s largest provider of mental health and absence management services, today released new data uncovering the significant mental and physical toll that caregiving takes on American workers. A sample analysis of ComPsych’s absence book of business, which covers more than six million people, from January 2022 through June of 2024 found that 20% of people who took a caregiving leave later took a leave for their own medical condition. Among these people, mental health (15%) was the single most common reason for their subsequent medical leave, followed by surgery (11%), pointing to both the mental and physical demands of caregiving.
CHICAGO – (Aug. 1, 2024) – ComPsych® Corporation, the world’s largest provider of mental health and absence management services, today released new data that shows mental health related leaves continue to skyrocket among U.S. workers. A sample analysis of ComPsych’s absence book of business, which covers more than six million people, found that in the first quarter of 2024, more than one in ten (11%) of all leaves of absence were due to mental health. This represents a 22% increase in mental health leaves versus those taken in the first quarter of 2023. This trend is being driven by female workers, who accounted for 69% of all mental health leaves of absence in 2023, and 71% of all mental health leaves in the first quarter of 2024.

Nearly one in three (28%) of non-clinical cases managed by ComPsych in 2023 in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada were related to help with government programs for basic needs ranging from rental assistance to utilities, prescriptions, food pantries, transportation, taxes, and loans, among other areas.

A ComPsych analysis of several thousand cases from its 2023 UK book of business found that nearly a third (31%) of people who reached out for mental health assistance in the UK did so to get help with anxiety. This benchmark is seven percentage points higher than that seen in America, where anxiety was also the top presenting issue in 24% of U.S. cases.
